987.1S - Catback Exhaust Replacement Options?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I've just been to my local Porsche specialist to collect my car from a 100k major service, the technician kindly advised me that the rear section of my exhaust seems to have rotted away and needs to be replaced ASAP, would you guys be able to advise what my best options are while keeping costs relatively low? i know fabspeed, topseed, miltek make "catback" systems for the 987S, are they worth the money? would it be best advised to look at OEM used systems on ebay or PCGB?
If you could help me out it would be most appreciated! Is there a preferred option you all tend to go for?
I've looked at the forums and can see most people go for the Carnewal system but i presume that wouldn't be an option for me considering my rear section is rotten?
Thanks in advance!

Carenwal don't need an exchange, just costs a bit more. Happy owner here.
Much appreciated, Gert priced me up at 795EUR for a good condition GT system, i think that might be my best bet most of the aftermarket systems i've seen are north of £1k, that being said the exhaust system may be less restrictive than the Carnewal GT? i find the OEM incredibly restrictive when you look at it
Used OEM models on Ebay tend to go for £200-400 but its a lottery isn't, you don't really know the condition until you stick it on car and hear it...
I "only" have a week old 987.1 non S but the exhaust does sound incredible. I also have 200 cell cats, but these are throwing an management error atm and probably needs new o2 sensors. I have been driving electric cars for 5 years, this one sounds very different! No droning at all when bimbling.

from what i've read the 200cel Cats in the catback will be okay for the CEL light on the basis the Cats in the manifold are in good order, you could be lucky if its just the o2 sensori think i'm gearing towards the carnewal system if i'm honest. Welcome to Porsche ownership!

I've got Carnewal GT back box with Top gear 200cel headers.., ( as well as desnork and BMC filter ). Sounds fantastic with no droning. I too have just had a warning light come on so now booked in to have lambda extensions fitted which should apparently sort it..
must sound lovely, do you mind me asking how much you paid to have the headers fitted / catback fitted or did you do the work yourself. My Porsche Tech tells me its a nightmare job getting the bolts off the cylinder head...Hi. Carnewal GT was in place when I got it. Headers I fitted myself and got lucky as the bolts came out ok as it had previously been rebuilt. I was prepared for the nightmare but it didnt come. In hindsight if it had it would have been exactly that if doing it on axle stands...Not much better on ramps but having room, light, heat , the right tools etc etc would make it easier..

I had a Carnewal fitted a couple of years back, I drove down (lovely drive) and he fits it whilst you wait - great sound.
lots of great reviews for Gert, When you went was there an additional charge for fitting or is it part of the service? I'll have to see if its easy to get to Belgium in this pandemic! if its part of the service.Youtube videos show its a 30-40min job to replace the exhaust but tech's i've spoken to said it can take up to 5-6 hours if the nuts are shagged
