718 Cayman GT4 insurance
Discussion
Can anyone recommend an insurer that will take on younger drivers on a GT4?
My car has now finished build and i have been told to expect delivery end of this month or early July. Ideally i would like to include my son on the policy, he is 25, been driving since he was 17, never had an accident and has a clean licence but my normal insurers are saying they will not insure anyone under 30.
Any ideas?

Have you tried Lockton? If you're a PCGB member they may cover younger drivers.
Liverpool Victoria and NFU Mutual may be worth a try too.
Just had a look at the Lockton website and that looks promising. Tried calling them but they're busy so will try them again in the morning.Liverpool Victoria and NFU Mutual may be worth a try too.
Thank you for your help.

Just a heads up, i'm 29 and insured on a 718 GT4
Insured through Admiral, they were by far the best in terms of pricing.
You have to watch the declaration of "modifications" with Admiral as factory fitted options are seen as mods. You have to declare anything above standard spec, which can be quite a bit on a new Porsche! When I added all my options Admiral were no cheaper than Lockton who offer a better overall product.Insured through Admiral, they were by far the best in terms of pricing.

Yes as i'm planning a few track days at some point I will need separate track day cover.
I've previously used MORIS but that was years ago. Who are the go to people these days?
It is really expensive taking out single track day insurance you may be better to cash in your current policy and take out a policy that covers track days similar to mine with Mannings. You could also try Classicline and there are one or two others I think you will find that a better proposition as a single day from memory will cost you £200+ and if you intend to do several it could get very expensive. You will also have an excess of 10% value of car.I've previously used MORIS but that was years ago. Who are the go to people these days?
Hope that helps
Thanks everyone
A little update on where i am so far. Mannings came back with a good quote and on the face of it what sounds like a good comprenhensive policy, however they will not insure my son being only 25 and that rules them out. I have not managed to get through to Lockton yet so i have sent an email and waiting for them to come back to me. I will do the same with Admiral and see what happens.
I have had a quote from A Plan which i thought was quite reasonable albeit the excess was very high but i could live with that. The underwriters are ERS and i was wondering if anyone here has any experience of them?

!! What exactly are the mods that you need to declare? Not a single Porsche is sold without at least some extra options. Surely we're not required to declare the likes of heated steering wheel?I had my Macan Turbo insured with Admiral, never declared any modifications, made a small claim (£2k) and no-one asked anything. Even assuming that only performance-enhancing options are relevant, I have Performance Pack & PASM. Perhaps if the car were to be a total write-off it'd become a problem...
BTW I don't recommend Admiral, that's a different story though.

I don't know if it's a recent thing, but you have to declare any alteration from the standard production spec - which includes all factory fitted options. So for a Porsche, this is a nightmare.
What a joke. I hope no-one will ever be in a situation where non-declaration of Passenger footwell storage net (£0) and Smoking Package (£38) are used as excuses to not pay out.Twinfan said:

This is sadly still a grey area for insurance, especially via comparison sites. Often the wording of “manufacturers spec” isn’t clear, and some insurers do expect you to list all options, and others do not. Nightmare!Twinfan said:
