Been out of the game for a while, does anyone have a rough idea how many 718 Spyders have been delivered so far, and are more expected?

Pretty sure I can get my hands on one, but the dealer feedback is that they are not sure any more will get built because of you know....everything!

Roughly 75 in the UK at the moment I reckon.

That's based on two batches of GT4s and Spyders so far, one late last year and one early this year. There were approximately 3 GT4s per OPC in each batch to one Spyder. There are probably around 225 GT4s here at the moment.

As for how many are yet to come? Only Porsche will know what the plans are. I don't think the press or OPCs will have any idea yet.

According to DVLA 90 were delivered in Q4 2019 with 100 Spyder’s....so Assuming they kept up a similar run rate before Covid struck we’d be at something like 140 Spyder’s and 160 GT4’s.

I think every OPC has fed the same line about there being a lot more GT4’s but clearly there aren’t...or maybe they are just producing relatively more of them now and we’ll see a bigger % of GT4’s later in the production run.

I hadn't realised the DVLA stats had been updated - apologies.

I see 101 GT4s and 80 Spyders so you're right, there isn't a 1:3 ratio as has been suggested. Interesting...

Shock horror OPC telling porkies on the numbers of cars!
Quiet a few Spyders delivered early in the run don’t seem to remember as many 981 been delivered early

Was told the same about 3:1 on GT4 v Spyders. Very strange. What would the motivation be around the OPC’s bull’ing people about this. I’m sure the DVLA numbers are accurate.

OPC’s may well be referring to the comparison of the total amount of allocation they will receive over the life of the two models, not what has been delivered so far.

On a different note I would also say it will now be quite likely that the final numbers for both models will be somewhat less due to the lost production time caused by COVID.

Another factor is likely to be that, as the 718 Spyder is basically a 718 GT4 without a solid roof, people may feel more inclined to buy one of those and track it and benefit from the drop-top on the few occasions when the weather plays ball compared to the 981, where taking a Spyder to track was maybe perceived as less viable.

Makes the 718 Spyder maybe a bit more of a "does everything" sports car compared to the GT4 ...?

By "does everything" you mean it can also have the roof down - that's the only difference!

that's quite a major point and you can have heated buckets in the better seats plus the Spyder's cheaper.

Just the better choice all round in 718 format.

Does everything..... barring anything involving slopes, ramps, bumps.

My GT4 is better than I expected in that regard. I've lightly brushed the brake ducts over the odd speed bump but most are fine. The worst place I've found was the slope into a petrol station where I've scuffed the front splitter. They're only plastic though and easily replaced if they ever get seriously damaged.

Exactly, that's the only difference so to some it will make more sense as they can go on track AND catch some rays ...

If you want to go off-roading, why buy a sports car ... Without being facetious, you know what I meant!

Many people, yourself included, spent an inordinate amount of time slagging the 718. One of the mainstays was the fact there would be thousands of them. There won’t be.
lol!

I think due to Covid, this could well end up being the case....
