OPC sale with no 2 year warranty
Discussion
I've just bought myself my first Porsche. A 2012 Cayman 987.2.
The local garage I bought it from told me the previous owner bought it from an OPC last year. He didn't think the previous owner had the 2 year warranty.
There's paperwork with the car relating to the 2 year roadside assistance but nothing about the warranty.
Is it possible the OPC sale last year was done without the 2 year warranty?

Hmmm.
It may be possible, if you are quick, and the previous owner is amenable, to get him to transfer it to you.
Who’s to know it wasn’t a private sale ? - Ive seen plenty of dealers advertising cars with “Extended Porsche Warranty”
Definitely worth having if you can get it, even if you have to offer to sweeten the deal for their assistance. It’s no use to them.

Nope.
You can put a Porsche warranty on the car via any OPC, but the car will need to be 100% standard and pass a Porsche 111-point check. For a two year warranty that would cost around £1300ish, more if you need replacement parts.
yes, get the last owner to transfer the warranty to you via the dealer. You can put a Porsche warranty on the car via any OPC, but the car will need to be 100% standard and pass a Porsche 111-point check. For a two year warranty that would cost around £1300ish, more if you need replacement parts.
3rd party dealers do this, I did this on my 991.1 GTS with a major dealer which I DID NOT SOR.
it's shocking tatics by Porsche to void a paid for warranty but my GTS had 22 months warranty left as I did not like the car.
I would happy to phone Porsche and move the warranty to the new buyer via the dealer, in fact In the end I only had to sign a letter the dealer already made up.

The dealer has claimed that the seller didn't have the OPC warranty, so you're going to have to get them to contact the seller after they've both sold the car to see if they'll transfer the warranty out of the good of their heart? It's a bit of a stretch, which is why I said "nope".
You might get lucky I guess, but these are questions to ask before buying the car not afterwards...

Nope was still yes though. You might get lucky I guess, but these are questions to ask before buying the car not afterwards...
there is a way round it, but yes better to get it done before you buy it.
Thanks guys. The dealer is asking the seller about the warranty. Ita a small village garage and he knows the seller personally so I'm sure if there is one it can be transferred. I've only paid a deposit at this stage.
I'm more interested in knowing could the car have been sold by OPC without the warranty? Has anyone heard of this?

Ive done 121,000 miles in my 2010 987.2 - apart from about £200 of warranty work and normal servicing - nothing has ever gone wrong
Slush fund, drive it, service it, get someone else to Clean it ..... repeat
Sounds good. Mine will be used daily so expect to put some miles on it.Slush fund, drive it, service it, get someone else to Clean it ..... repeat

Is it not the case that you can get a refund on an extended warranty if you sell the car.
So if there was say 15mts of warranty left, you can get a refund on the year remaining.
I think I remember reading that on a warranty document.
I suspect no refund if any claims have been paid. So if there was say 15mts of warranty left, you can get a refund on the year remaining.
