Roll Hoops low on Spyder
Discussion
Hi All
I was looking to buy a 2015 3.8litre Spyder at the weekend
I am a smiggin over 6ft and to my surprise my head was half inch or more over the roll hoop.
This was with the 18-way sports seat in its lowest position however, there was still another 2” to the actual roof fabric
Reading around I see threads where people taller than me fit in
A simple question HOW?
Is it possible to lower the seats or is another seat actually lower say the 2 way
Despite having 18-way seats the steering column was manual as in not eclectic operation and I gather that’s normal?

I'm 99% sure the 918 buckets (electrical height adjustment only) will sit the lowest in the Spyder. I had the same seats in my GT4 and again had loads of headroom.
The folding bucket is heated and many people prefer them but not me.
The comfort seat (chairs!) have the full range of adjustment etc but sadly don't allow such a low driving position for us tall folks.
Go and try a few other cars and seat options.

Hi
I am a bit confused as the spyder 3.8 I have been looking for is, I belive, a 981 but I find the Porsche numbering sysytem a bit err...... vauge
So how do I get 918 buckets (electrical height adjustment only) in a 981Spyder as they are different cars and prices
I bet I am not understanding something very very simple
I see the newer 6 cylinder 718 4l Spyder has buckets (electrical height adjustment only) seats as I think does the new GTS. Given the high dealership prices of the imaculate 3.8 litre I have seen these new are very tempting with none or little price difference on the GTS

Ah
That's what I was missing "918-style"
Thank you all for being so helpful
FYI My Spyder is going up for sale tomorrow with an independent dealer which has 918 buckets 4k, white with black interior and red stitching. One thing to note is visibility is quite poor out the back with the humps so I think the reversing camera is really handy. That's what I was missing "918-style"

Mine is currently for sale , just over 3k miles and almost 3 years Porsche extended warranty.
Has the 918 buckets , which as others have posted , sit the lowest and provide the most legroom.
I’m 6’2” and I have plenty of head and leg room .

Hi
Thank you both for the sale offers but I am looking for Yellow, Guards Red or an unlikely to find a Green all those with all black interiors
Metallic silver a maybe as it seems popular. Sorry but White colour stitching and seat belts are not on my list after all its all in the eye of the beholder
Sorry for the late reply but I have only just seen your replies............ is there a way on Pistonheads you can get notified of a reply? I thought in the past there was!
Hope you soon find a buyer and anyway I am a bit stuck as my new garage has not been started and I now find out that’s now not likely this year on their order book.......all beyond the builders control (mutters dam virus)

I'm 6' 6" and cannot drive any Boxster or Cayman any distance without knee or back pain.
Independently of the distance to pedals aspect, height-wise comfort seats are way too high for me. I'd suggest that anyone with 36"+ inside leg or taller than 6' 2" should go with buckets, especially with a manual.
