Hi,
Apologies for another exhaust thread. Once I have the information on this, I'm going to make a small website with all information on the exhaust options and suppliers, and you guys can feel free to chime in on updating it, if you would like it too. I'll share the login details via PM.
Due to my lack of mechanical knowledge, i'm seriously struggling to understand which options to choose from, for an exhaust upgrade.
I've always been somewhat of a purist and have never done any mods to any cars I've owned, but I am just tired of how poor the 718 GT4 sounds.
Can someone help explain the following please:
01 - What needs to be changed... or the options? A - the full exhaust system and pipes, B - just the pipes from the exhaust, C - just tail pipes, D - valve systems, E - over axle GPF delete pipe, F - headers
02 - I have read that people have taken the Particulate Filter off. Is that against the law, or does it just void warranty.
03 - Based on my questions above, I think you will get a clear sense of my lack of mechanical knowledge.
I'm trying to change the exhaust on my Testarossa too but I'm again completely confused with whether I need to change "the full exhaust system, Y pipes, X pipes, end pipes, tail pipes, or any other sort of pipes... valves, deletes, etc etc etc
Anyway... can someone help someone out who just thought that upgrading / replacing an exhaust was just replacing on simple items... however there seems to be over 10 different things you can change, and i'm completely lost.

On the 718 GT4, you just need to replace the rear silencer. This is done by removing 6-8 bolts I believe. All of the examples I’ve seen produced so far slot simply in its place and should work perfectly without bringing on any engine lights. OPF delete kits are now coming available but yes they absolutely would invalidate your warranty and you’d have real issues insuring the car too.

It’s is replaced in my case with the JCR pipe which looks like this and bolts straight on:

Fair point, yes, but not to the same degree. OPC have said warranty claims only affected if related to the aftermarket part (standard response). Insurers didn’t seem bothered.oo7ml said:

Can you include a note that a change to the exhaust must be declared on ones insurance, otherwise in the event of (heaven forbid) an accident you will have zero cover. Any excuse to not pay/support your claim, they'll seize upon. Apologies for another exhaust thread. You can get aftermarket valve controllers but I'm leaving mine as Porsche intended. It'll keep the noise down a bit a low revs.
The standard system keeps them closed below 4k-ish rpm but they're open above that.
If you turn the valve control off (or don't turn it on, in my case - Sportec), it remains as standard but you get the advantage of opening up at lower revs if you want. If it wasn't for noise restrictions on track, changing the exhaust would be a no-brainer option (for me) but that does need to be considered if regular track use is desired, unfortunately.

Yep, always declare all of your mods. Don't give the underwriters any excuse to deny your claim ...Evo9lution said:

I disagree as I've no desire to increase the noise at low revs e.g. town driving etc. I just want to add a bit when driving a little more 'spiritedly'
