£1400 OPC Boxster S Service? Ouch!
Discussion
2013 Boxster S 21,000miles
£783.42 Major Service (4year, 40,000miles)
£65.10 Chassis Inspection
£55.80 Drive Belt Check
£120 Brake Fluid
£78.68 Tyre Sealant
£296.86 Spark Plugs
Total £1399.86 (inc VAT)
Really?
Are these typical OPC prices?
Negotiable?
Consulting a local Indy, cost is circa 50% of the above, but i'm assuming that would invalidate the warranty?

I've done the Indy vs OPC vs Warranty vs Peace-of-mind calculation.
The OPC Warranty is, imo, pretty good value for money. Obviously just an insurance policy with a 'must use OPC' caveat, however prices like this are just ridiculous.
I have no issue paying good money for good things, but i have a real issue with perceived pi$$ taking.....

Does a Porsche warranty not allow for specialist Porsche independent garages to carry out services on your car?
No. Which to be honest if fair enough as they have no knowledge of how competent said independent garage is. Clearly the vast majority of enthusiast owners will take their cars to well respected Indy’s....unfortunately like many things in life rules are made because there are people who would simply go to the cheapest possible garage who’d do a bad job and thus a car is more likely to end up needing a warranty repair....Linkin said:
Their quotation states:
10000000002 Topup/Bag
00004400204 Window Cleaner Outer
You can tell them not to include these 2 items and adjust the quote. One is a bag with a litre of top up oil in, and the other is some screen wash. Both can be had for a lot less elsewhere without invalidating anything10000000002 Topup/Bag
00004400204 Window Cleaner Outer
You can dispense with refreshing the tyre sealant as well as that is not a warranty stipulation.
Why is a 'Chassis Inspection' and a 'Drive belt check' not part of a major service and an additional cost? Presumably these are therefore optional otherwise they'd be included in the service for warranty?

That's one good reason why I have changed my mind about buying one, not forgetting depreciation.
Depreciation is not so much of an issue..... in fact hardly any issue....
In fact if i look at the whole cost of the ownership experience, my Wife's JCW MINI and Mercedes SLC were way more expensive.
I think it just a case of choosing the specification wisely.
On a brighter note, my OPC seems happy to discount, so i'm getting closer to being more comfortable about the costs now, although i'll probably go down a recommended indy route before the next 4-year service is due.

Not a Porsche owner so , but what happened to the ruling that anyone can service your car as long as they use official parts ?
I think that ruling applies to the original manufacturers warranty.I purchased the car second hand from an OPC, so i had the extended warranty which i understand just to be an insurance agreement... with stipulation that the OPC servicing should be adhered to.
