Hi all, as previously mentioned i have a spyder allocation for October/ November,we had a test drive in an gt4 yesterday, which i found quite hard ride ( I know its a gt car so expected with buckets) my dealer has said the spyder with sport seats would be a softer ride, has anyone driven both back to back, and can confirm if the spyder is slightly softer ride ( I know they have same suspension components) so didn’t know if dealer was correct, thanks

The chassis is exactly the same, so the general ride will be identical. It may not translate to your backside quite so directly in comfort seats so it may feel a little softer if that's what you spec but the road holding will be the same.

If you want softer, that's what the GTS is for.

If you want a Spyder but are concerned about the ride you should try an example with PCCB. The reduced unsprung mass makes the low speed ride more compliant. It's an expensive solution but after back-to-back comparisons I have gone PCCB on all my road going GT3s for that reason

Macans with Air sus work well for a soft ride.

The 718 spyder will ride like a 718Gt4 if not perhaps less compliant, why do be people buy sports cars/hot hatches but want them to ride like a 4 door saloon? Its a sports car at the end of the day so the ride will be firm! Personally never found the 987 spyder/981gt4 i had both with folding buckets anything but comfortable over long journeys more so than the wifes F56JCW! If too harsh switch to a 718 4.0 Gts.
Should add it might have been the 918 buckets that were at fault you cannot spec. folding buckets anymore which is a shame

This. It's the most hardcore Cayster. Buy a GTS if the ride is too harsh. I happen to think the ride on the GT4 is very good - you do feel everything but it's not uncomfortable, and that's in 918 buckets

Let that be a lesson to you thinking you can come on here and ask such a question. Clearly anything slightly less hard than a GT4 would render you unsuitable for a Spyder. So forget it. Cancel your order and get something with air suspension.

Unless..... someone on here has actually made the comparison and could answer your question.
