I'm looking to get a spare set of wheels for my 987.2 Cayman to mount some track specific tyres.

I had considered 18" for cost however realised that Michelin Cup 2's aren't available in 18"s.

The only other track specific tyre I have experience with is the AD08R.

18" or 19"? Which tyre?

The car is a PDK with Wavetrak LSD, PASM with DSC sports controller.

Yep. This seems to work well.

You will get a lot of tyre roll and less responsive steering with 18”
19” on cups 2's is great on track and will give your brakes some room to cool.

Biggest issue on track in 987.2 is brake cooling.

18 A052
The new good year range.
R888R

Might be available in 18”

I was certain that the Cup2 was available in 18 inch sizes (and a few 17s too) so presumably Michelin have superseded those sizes with the latest evolution, the Cup2 connect.

With 18s you will still be running 40 or 35 profile so there won't any 'tyre roll'. With smaller wheels being lighter, steering feel will be improved compared to 19s (maybe only marginally). If the overall tyre diameter is slightly smaller than standard, then you have slightly lower gearing and ride height - not exactly bad things for track days.

Wheel size won't help brake cooling. Brake cooling ducts will (997 GT3 ones fit I think?)!

But as Chuck alluded to, these latest Cup2s might be hard to obtain, or at least hard to obtain at anything under full retail price...

Try AR1's, you can get a wide range of 18" tyre sizes as per below:

I've ordered a set of OZ 19" HLT's.

Is there much difference between Cup 2's and Cup 2 connects? Can you actually get the connect kit and sensors anywhere?

Any other tyre I should be looking for? AR1's a too dry weather orientated, I've got track days booked through October and November so expecting plenty of wet days.

I'm going for 235/35/19 and 265/35/19, I can find N0 rated front tyres but not rears. 91Y front and 98Y rears correct?

Anyone with Oz wheels, do they take OEM Porsche wheels bolts or aftermarket?
