Just missed out on my perfect spec 2016 car yesterday..

Looking at the others available spec not quite right. I'm after buckets/alcantara wheel and a few other things. Red/Blue etc would be nice too.

Time of year? Limited availability car? Owners love them?

Looks alright but not the spec you're after. I don't think I've ever seen one that isn't either black or white. Shame really.

I think he’s looking for a 981 not a 987 based on the original post. Not a bad car that though. I would say the amount available isn’t unusual; there weren’t that many made so there’s never a massive selection to choose from. Next time your perfect spec does come up snap it up ASAP!

I think these cars are with a mixture of owners . Some who have the car as a long term keeper and some owners have the car for a summer then move on having ticked that box.
I have had mine from new .march 16. Still no intention to sell. So maybe i am not alone there.

some people , Well 1 ex owner on here ,doesnt rate the car. But as a 2nd car to own and enjoy it is a good ,sensible fit for many.

Not may 981's imported and I don't think I have ever seen more than a handful for sale. Most I have seen was when the 718 started deliveries earlier this year.

Don't forget that person was conned into buying a marmite spec 981 Spyder in order to secure a GT3 allocation. They didn't go out and buy one because they really wanted one wink

The 981 Spyder was a low volume production car that is very much loved by the vast majority of people. I'm not a convertible fan, but when I drove one I very much enjoyed it and I can see the appeal. Good examples will be held on to I'm sure!

Why was I conned ? I entered an agreement to buy a car in the showroom which was sticking to secure a GT3 slot. I choose to buy the Spyder over other stock.
As for marmite, way more 718 are classic speced inside I notice, it's quite a popular option now and the car was fully speced and in the best colour of white imo. It also sold pretty fast at Top 555 who I sold it too in the end.

I could have flipped it but ran it as a daily for about a year and all though a full winter, it's my other half fav car and I liked it as a life style car hence I ran it for a bit. Great looking thing, what it's not is a "drivers car" that's all but it was way better than your 981 GTS as an example wit ha faster rack and much bigger brakes and the 3.8.

I would buy another at £55k if they drop to that and just put 19" on it and do the 435BHP mod. Every car at a price becomes attractive and they are safe money to run about it, I sold mine with 12k miles which at the time was classed as high.
Always said it's a great car just don't agree with a lot of the hype on them that's all and vs the other cars I owned at the time, it was the 1st one to depart.

I found one.

Have owned over 15 porshe’s including GT3 RS and latterly 981 cayman GTS which I thought was a brilliant car.

Just sold my McLaren 540c and was going to sit tight for the winter but oh well!

I was planning to get a 981 GT4 but these sunny winters days could be a bit of fun with the roof down

Haven’t test driven but I have never test driven any car I have bought but the reviews are good and I always go back to Porshe in the end!

Congrats! What’s the spec? Fwiw I too have had a string of Porsches (incl 2x 981 GTS and 2x 981 Spyder) and more recently a McLaren 570s, based on our histories I think you will love it, I certainly did.

Was going to say there was a red one at Porsche Guildford with buckets that I viewed before I bought mine from RPM

I missed the red one by an hour I think. Was well priced too.

Have gone for a more subtle shade, which is fine actually as the spec is great.

Mine is more subtle too, couldn’t get the faded red paint of my old 968 out of my mind!

Love mine to bits and it’s now snug in the garage on SORN until next spring.
Much prefer it to my previous GT4 and I know I’m not alone in that opinion.

Some gratuitous pics....
