Has anyone upgraded the speakers on the GT4?
The standard ones are terrible. Usually better quality speakers improves the sound without spending too much.

Sounds like you should gone for the BOSE option. I'd be surprised if anyone's changed speakers TBH so you'd be the first.

I'd spend the money on a new silencer instead, much better way of getting a decent soundtrack in the car wink

Indeed.
Will try the car graphic valve controller first.

I’ve never been a fan of the quality of the Bose in Porsche’s, even though I spec it every time hoping it’ll be better! I have to say though, I find the Bose in my 718 awful. Probably the worst sound quality I’ve heard from an ‘up rated’ car system. Have played with the settings but to no avail. Bit miffed it cost as much as it did for the awful quality it puts out.

People moan about BOSE but it's pretty good vs sound pack plus and was not even an option on the 981 GT4.

So should have ordered BOSE, it does what it needs to do in my GT3 and is 10x better than my 981 GT4 was.
I turn treble up quite a lot and base down and it's fine for what I need it to do.

every car I have been in with BOSE people (and all loaners) turn the base up lots and the treble down odd !!!

Nope. Audio supplied by car manufactureres is rarely any good. Should be able to cost effectively upgrade the speakers to make enough imporvement IMO.

I never spec the "premium" stereos in cars like these, up past 30mph the road noise is so bad it just never seems worth it.

Think it can make a difference as speakers supplied in cars are often the weak point.

you can spend £20k and it will sound crap if you want to talk about music in cars though and that's the rub here.

I run Audiolab classic Amps with some Monitor Audio Gold speakers at home, I feel it's pointless swaping out car stuff, I did it when I was 20, and just spec BOSE these days, it will have had to pass some standard. I do have some very high end Phoenix Gold amps in the attic though which I need to ebay one day !!.

In the GT3 it's totally pointless, the road noise and stones and exhaust make it that you have to turn the radio off any way, so it's just while in traffic as back ground noise and BOSE set up well it pretty good vs sound pack plus which was dire.

I can see it would be nice in a M8 BMW or a Bentley, Burmester in Porkers above BOSE is better of course and people do seem to like it having it make your ears bleed at events !!

I think for the Ave punter Bose is a massive upgrade over SPP and for a GT car ample.
Now you are stuffed with SPP, I guess it's no harm fitting some £150 speakers though.

Mr R, wow.
Bose is not the solution IMO. Overpriced.
Leave it with me, I'm sure I can improve the sound over Bose...

Hasn’t been available in GT cars, as far as I know.

Afraid I’m with Mr R on this one. I don’t see the point of chasing audio quality in a noisy car. The standard stereo works for sufficient entertainment purposes in the car, I’m not driving it to listen to accurate reproductions of my favourite songs. I have an expensive stereo at home for that smile

Podcasts on the move, backing tracks to enjoy cruising along to, absolutely fine. Window down a bit and radio off when having a blat driving
