My key for my Boxster has become a bit tatty, specifically the rubber pad you press to unlock. I have no issues with the transponder or starting the car but I find I have to get my nail right into the button to unlock or lock the car. Some research suggests the remedy is a new replacement from Porche, then coding to the car for a vast sum of money into the £100s. Has anyone had the same issue and come up with a cheaper alternative for a tight Yorkshireman?

You can order a replacement key from Amazon or eBay. Best to go for the 987 upgraded version. Simply transfer over the internals from the old to new. Many how too videos on YouTube. Blanks cost less than £20 and no need obviously to recode.

Make sure if you buy a key that it comes with the programming code, if it doesn't you can't code it to the car.

You just need the shell.

As said above, loads on ebay and amazon.

Takes 5 minutes to swap over your old blade and circuit board to the new shell.
