I have an annoying rattle/clatter coming from front of my 981s over rippled surfaces...had it on ramp and it appears all bushes and suspension fine ...seems to come from middle of the car near the steering rack UJ ,anyone else had this problem?i don’t particularly want to change all front suspension and bushes if there’s a simple answer, car has done 21k miles, any pointers greatly appreciated!!

Droplinks? They make a racket when they are on their way out but even when rattling, I've struggled to find any noticeable play when on the car. Once on the bench the play is quite obvious.

We did check all the ancillary parts and they looked fairly solid...booked it in to be checked out.

Drop links are about 15-20 quid a side and fitting takes about 30 minutes of burning is seized

Thanks. How can I tell if mine are worn/damaged? I’ve had a good look and felt the rubber connections which feel soft and elastic. Any other clues?

You'll hear them make a knocking noise over uneven pavement at speeds of less than say 30mph. Its hard to describe the sound but you'll kind of feel it through your feet.

In other news, please excuse my last reply/post. Predictive text seems hell bent on portraying me as an idiot

Just to follow up the drop links improved it but i still had a slight knock/tap over small bumps etc only coming from the offside..turned our to be shot tuning fork where the joint had come lose, the problem is even on a lift you cant replicate the noise as the suspension feels tight as you test it..car is perfect now..tuning forks about £200 an and hours labour....
