I have always had 911’s (996C4, C4S and 997 Turbo) before, however I drove past a GT4 a couple of days ago and loved the look of it. From what I have read they are great to drive test drives are tricky at the moment).
Now I have found one I like the look of 2016 car with about 3k miles.
Are there any “must have” options on these?
Any weak points (dealer car with warranty)?
What’s the depreciation likely to be over 1-2 years (dealer purchase, private sale, few thousand miles)?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Best most recent thread was this..... £70k 981 GT4 or £85k 718 GT4?
Have a read through.... any further questions... then ask away.

I would be keen to know it’s history accurately. A 2016 car is 5 years old this year and it has had very little use. How was it stored and how long for? Was is used regularly. Assuming it is on the original tyres then these may be worth changing if you intend to use it properly. Worth making sure it’s time based servicing is up to date as well.
It is an absolute joke that such a brilliant car has had so little use, why on earth do people but these things? It beggars belief in my book.

Sound advice.Virtually a brand new car. I’m mildly concerned by its lack of use which is never good for a car.
However, it’s from a main dealer and comes with 2 yr warranty so that makes it less of a worry.
I won’t do huge. Mileage in it, probably only a couple of thousand a year (my Monday to Friday commute is by train, so car won’t move during the week). It’s really just a toy.
This one has the carbon buckets, which are a must for me. Is ideally buy private, but there are very few private. Of the 718 Gt4 there are none for sale privately.
Although there isn’t a huge price difference between the two now, I wouldn’t gain anything from the newer car in driving terms (having read the reviews).
The Gt4 prices are still pretty strong considering their original rrp.
Do people think they will move much in price?

For some reason the reviews never say how much stronger the new engine is - its fabulous and a huge improvement over the 981's which I disliked so much I didn't buy a 981 GT4 and hung out for a 718 GT4 instead. I'm very glad I did.YMMV of course, and plenty of people are happy with 981s

It’s because the difference might not be immediately apparent at the kind of speeds most of these reviewers are doing on the road, and overall it isn’t such a big jump as to call it night and day, until you get into high revs.... and you get to feel the cumulative effect of the performance.
Also a lot depends on the examples of each car you have driven, or the reviewer has driven the former so long ago, that the recalled perception isn’t that different or the new car does make enough of a mark to comment on.
The big thing will be that most reviewers are used to turbocharged cars now and so the kind of power.. torque particular in the NA engines is pretty meagre by comparison especially at low to medium revs... and then they don’t get the room or opportunity to use the high revs.
Lastly, in both Gen... reviewers have been too busy complaining about gearing to really focus on the engine and deemed it more than serviceable for the job at hand...GT4 concept isn’t about the engine...it always been about the chassis, agility and the involvement.

3k miles in 5 years. How the hell does that happen.
How can it possibly have been used regularly? It’s not been used, it’s not even run in.
Pretty easy bud. I once did under 1500 miles in 3 years or so. Due to a combination of weather, work, family commitments,. other cars etcHow can it possibly have been used regularly? It’s not been used, it’s not even run in.
As much as we would like to drive these cars a lot of people will have other things to deal with
Love ours. Had it 2 years now. Just renewed 2 year warranty with recovery £1475. Big service was £1000. Cars only done 5500 miles now with only 670 miles in the last 12 months thanks to COVID and work. The car is fantastic to drive not overly quick but communicates through your butt like a masseuse on heat. Can’t recommend one enough. As for depreciation the end of the day it’s a car strap in hold on and keep your fingers crossed.
Main dealer selling the 3k mile has just confirmed that it had not been serviced since new.
The main dealer has just done a major service and it will have a 2 yr Porsche warranty.
Part of me understands that the car has only done 3k miles, but the other part of me hates the fact it wasnt serviced for a five year period!

Any views on the lack of history, albeit very low mileage!
Hi Chris,I bought mine recently from an OPC with just over 5k miles on it, a ludicrously low amount. That said, how can we complain about low mileage as anything more than about 10k and we’d be bemoaning the fact that it’s a bit leggy......?!
The lack of service history is disappointing, but the reality is that they are only done every 2 years, and with such little mileage the chances are the car is absolutely fine. The challenge will be convincing and potential downstream buyer to think the same way. It’s a little like number of owners......does it really matter? For some, yes, for me, no.
In your position I’d be considering a purchase, but squeezing the dealer for as much as possible. I think they could struggle to find a buyer who’s happy to accept a lack of history in the short term. Equally, there will be more on the market so if you’re in no real rush, then get the perfect one for you if you have reservations. Not really very helpful I’m sure......good luck.

If this is a main Porsche dealer i.e. UK OPC I am surprised they are retailing this car without proper history tbh.The main dealer has just done a major service and it will have a 2 yr Porsche warranty.

Unless the car can be bought at around a £8k discount on one with proper history I would walk away even though it will have a 2 yr Porsche warranty there are plenty of other cars around to buy.
Imo you will struggle selling the car in the future especially a Porsche GT.

How can an OPC sell a car that hasn't been serviced in five years and that should have been up on their ramps at least twice in that period, regardless of mileage? The main dealer has just done a major service and it will have a 2 yr Porsche warranty.

Also, who buys a £70k+ car and doesn't service it in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations? My recent car history is mainly M and AMG but every time I start their cars up, it flashes how long to the next service. Does Porsche not do this? Has the owner(s) just ignored this for five years?! I couldn't proceed as I'd wonder where else they scrimped on running it.
How certain can you be of the mileage i.e. hasn't been run with a mileage blocker?
I just don’t understand why people skimp on servicing; it’s not even expensive on porsches. It hasn’t any of its anti corrosion checks so even Porsche think that will be invalidated. Then if i did have a mechanical issue, would they refuse to pay out because of 5 years of no servicing?! Possibly.
As much as I was trying to talk myself into it, I do change cars quite regularly and a car with no history for the first five years of its life is just going to make so much more difficult to sell.
As said above there are a few floating around so I’m going to pass on this one and hold out and buy one with history.
There are a couple of black cars with carbon seats so i will pursue those...
