I am in the process of replacing my MX-5 and the obvious choice is a Boxster. I viewed and drove a 981 2.7 PDK yesterday which in many ways was great. It has the base, manually adjusted, seats. After 30 mins I was aware that the edges were digging into my shoulders at the back, like the top of the seat was too narrow. It was uncomfortable. I am 6ft but not that broad so was surprised and have never had an issue on other cars.
My question is are the other seat options (like 14 way adjustable) likely to be a better fit for me?
Appreciate any advice.

My first 981 had the base seats and I found they didn't give me enough legroom so my thighs weren't supported by the seat squabs and I ended up getting leg cramps. Second Boxster 981 has the sports seats (but not 14-way) and that is MUCH better. I have more than enough legroom and the car is comfortable enough for all day road tripping.

The only way to know whether the 14-way seats would suit you better would be to find a car with them fitted and try them!

Confusingly the standard seats are called sports seats. The 'proper' sports seats are called sports seats plus!!
I also found the standard sports seats nowhere near as comfortable as the sports seats plus. Never tried the 14 way things but people that have say they are good.
I find the most uncomfortable Porsche seat are the sports seats in 996/986, just too small in width.

Ah yes in that case I have the sports seats plus in my second car.

I always found boxster seats very good. Emira however were terrible.
