Last Tuesday I picked up an approved used Boxster S (21 plate) and I have a niggling worry about servicing. I guess my question is if I’ve been ever so slightly duped or completely misled (or neither and I’m overthinking it!).

Car had done just under 14k when sold to me, I’m delighted with it (although it did have to go into a different local Porsche dealership as the PASM and PSM buttons were entirely dead from the day I got it - solved with a ‘re-coding’ and turned around in a day).

The service book shows the following:
Oil and inspection service March ‘23 - 2129 miles
Oil and inspection service Sep ‘24 - 3207 miles

There are no further entries. The car/app is telling me 9k more miles or September ‘26 is my next service. My query is should it have had something from the dealership before I took it away? 3000 miles to approx 23k miles seems a long time to have nothing done in terms of servicing. I did ask, I perhaps was a bit overwhelmed by the whole process of buying a car of this type and concentrated on a small scuff on the alloy when which they solved before I picked it up. The fact they missed the PASM and PSM buttons has now got me thinking they’ve skipped at least an oil and filter change?
It’s a day over the 14 day period but…..I am absolutely delighted with the spec and car, I’m not looking to blow the deal up, I’m just curious if I should get back in touch. Maybe they’ve just missed stamping the book?

Servicing is every 20k miles or 2 years, whichever is sooner. Keep an eye on fluid levels and they seem absolutely fine. Sep 26 or 23k miles seems risht for the next one.

For peace of mind get it into an indy for a minor service and swap out the 10k old oil and a check over to ease your mind.

Yep, I think I’ll do that. I guess it was optimistic to think the dealer would throw in an additional service at the effective halfway point of the 2 years/20,000 mile interval…..they have to make maximum margin I suppose! The fact the buttons weren’t working probably left me feeling a bit nervy but it’s now in great shape and I’ll get a price for an oil change and general once over from a local Porsche garage that I have near me in Basingstoke. Although I have no reason to suspect anything is wrong so maybe I’ll save the cash! Thanks for the reply.

As others said, factory intervals are 2 years and/or 20k miles. Mine was service every two years, but only because I wasn’t doing big miles, if I was actually doing 10k a year, it would have been getting an additional oil change every year.

If you want piece of mind, do a mini service (oil + filter) yourself every other year and then pay the dealer to do the big service every 2 years, that is if you want to keep Porsche warranty up?

If you dont, do the mini service yourself yearly and then get a specialist to do the main service every other year.
