Anyone actually done this switch?

Interested to hear thoughts and comparisons. Love the drama and hooligan aspect of my GT4 which i've had for 5 happy years, but also love a soft top.

I’ve had both and a couple of examples of each. Very different cars. If you dont track your GT4 then as a road car the 718 Spyder is a nicer car. Much better powertrain, useful uplift in the interior quality etc etc. The much discussed high gearing is a bit of a drag in the 718, something that is partially mitigated by a PDK Spyder. I enjoyed my GT4’s as track cars but not as “dailys” where I found them a bit tiresome. The Spyders were great all rounders and I loved using mine as often as possible. It’s not that the Spyder is much softer than a GT4 it’s just a bit more accessible on the road.
As ever the devil can be in the detail of the spec that you have / buy and in the chassis set up of both cars.
Both great cars. Enjoy the search.

I had a 981 GT4, now have a 718 Spyder. Had a 997.2 GT3CS in between. 981 is more of an event than the 718, and I used as a daily and it was fine. Heavier clutch, steering, gearbox (none as interactive as the 997 but more so than the 718). Having said this, the 718 Spyder, with the roof off, is a brilliant road trip car, and with the warranty / modern tech is a brilliant car compared to anything else so new.
