V cheap 986 Boxster S - MOT warnings
Discussion
Hi all,
My neighbour mentioned in passing that he wanted to get rid of his 2001 986 Boxster S, he can't be bothered with the hassle of a private sale, so said I could take it off his hands for £3.5k, he bought last year at £6.5k.
It's 106k miles, roof works, AC works, full Porsche service history, and otherwise looks in good condition.
Only thing i had concerns over was looking at a car vertical check the last MOT had the following advisories:
Nearside Front Suspension arm ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Front Suspension arm ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Vehicle structure is corroded but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced (6.1.1 (c) (i))
Offside Front Anti-roll bar ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Suspension component corroded but not seriously weakened (5.3.3 (b) (i))
I'm not too worried about most of those, except the Vehicle structure corroded one. Is this an instant death sentence for the car and i should avoid at all costs even with the good price?
Its out of MOT by a week, so i could suggest that i will buy subject to a fresh MOT and an inspection on what has actually coroded, whether it is surface level or something more.
What do you guys think?

common for these to need new arms
as for the corrosion id get under it and look , could be rotten as a pear or a picky tester leaving unessesary comments
id be thinking new arms and a weekend cleaning it up and undersealing it ?
Cheers Steveo, yeah fingers crossed it is something like the arms... considering in the price is so good that even if it did take £1-2k of work it'd still be a good deal afterwards.as for the corrosion id get under it and look , could be rotten as a pear or a picky tester leaving unessesary comments

Think i'll take it to a trusted MOT garage and get them to look at it and show me where the corrosion is and what it needs doing
