In a nutshell, I’ve made two calls so far and the distance between the prices is insane. Porsche dealership wants £1140 (inspection service, brake fluid change plus an MoT). Halfords want £359.99 for their major service, includes brake fluid change plus the MoT is included in that.

Now, I know, Halfords isn’t going to fill most people with confidence perhaps….but leaving aside the warranty debate which I’m aware of and accept….does anyone have any real world experience that would lead to them telling me to absolutely not consider the cheaper option.

The car was dealer bought with 13k miles on it and is in immaculate order.

Was it bought from a official Porsche Dealership or just some random car dealer?

I would call all the OPCs within driving distance from you and compare prices that way. I'd also call any Porsche Indies that are in your area. I wouldn't buy a porsche that had been serviced at Halfords.

A Halfords service will cost you a great deal more than the 800 quid saved when it comes to resale.

Yep, thanks. I’m about to call 2 independents near me in Basingstoke.

If you're seriously considering Halfords servicing a 5 year old Porsche I can only wish you luck.

Just use one of the many quality Independent Porsche Specialists.

So after paying top dollar for a presumably decent car you are going to penny pinch on the maintenance, trash its history and get considerably less for it when you come to sell it.

Do you know how many 718s your Halfords branch have serviced? As above you will lose far more than you think you are saving when you come to sell - particularly if it’s in the next year or two.

Okay, all advice taken in good spirits!

It was worth considering, I like to save money, don’t we all!

It’s now booked in with Performance Car Specialists based near me in Chineham. The price was firmly in the middle of the two quotes in the original message I posted!

Just remember, if the car is more than 3 years old (outside manufacturers warranty and now under extended warranty) the car must be serviced by an OPC or a Porsche Approved Workshop otherwise the warranty will be void. If you decide to extend the warranty and the last service was done outside the Porsche network, then the last service must be done again to ensure it meets Porsche standards. Tread carefully.

Is there a list of the Porsche Approved Workshops anywhere?
Or does anyone know of any in Scotland?

I don't think that there is such a thing as a Porsche Approved Workshop in the UK. I think that Porsche Brooklands used to be one but is now an OPC.

The OP's car is 2021 and given that the service interval is every two years or 20,000 miles, which ever comes sooner, the next service would usually be due in 2027 and not just because the car is coming up to 20,000 miles.

What is the service e history of the car?
