21" Cayenne wheels without factory wheelarch extensions?

Hi,

I have a 2015 Cayenne Diesel with the standard 18-inch wheels and am looking to upgrade to a better looking set of genuine Porsche rims. My car does not have the wheelarch extensions which would normally be fitted when ordering 21-inch rims from the factory so my question is can you fit 21-inch rims without the extensions or is it best avoided?

I would be happy with 20-inch rims but there are presently two sets of 21-inch rims available at a good price.
