50k on macan turbo or macan gts
Discussion
Thinking of px ing our 2016 macan 2 litre petrol for something a little more punchy …
We use it mainly for motorway trips but I fancy something that has a bit more go off the lights for those moments you just feel like it . . ( this is Pistonheads, I’m sure you understand ..)
Around 45 - 50 k I fancy the 2017 ish macan turbo - 3.6 twin turbo v6 - awesome sound - about 400 horses.
But, then i think Am i better off going for the newer 3 litre GTS? A 2.9 litre engine of about 360 horses. I imagine it will be cheaper to tax / run etc and maybe a bit more future proof ?
Would it have as much character as the 3.6?
The 3.6 turbo is the type of car I would go to car meets in as it is a real head turner with a great sound - so kind of covers 2 bases there . . .
Has anyone owned both ??
Over to you guys !!
Currently it’s a toss up between this nice blue turbo :

And this nice silver GTS

Personally I'd go for the GTS but I'm biased because I'm on my third and think there's not much that can compete with them for the money although the Turbo does look like a good deal comparatively.
The GTS you've got your eye on will have the Porsche developed 3.0 V6 as opposed to the 2.9 Audi unit that only appeared from the later Gen 2 models. Whatever you choose to go for you won't be disappointed.

Update - doing the paperwork on a 2016 macan gts - lovely spec with full sunroof too. Was lovely to drive - very comfy but with a nice bit of poke when you need it .
Picking it up in about 2 weeks as have to swap number plates round etc etc - with the full sunroof it was a bit like a convertible on the test drive - lovely.
Silver with black badging / decals and black wheels

Picked it up today and drive it home 100 plus miles - lovely car. On the one hand it is exactly like our 2 litre petrol but on the other hand it has a lot more torque so can actually be more relaxing to drive - great for overtaking - open the valves on the pipes and it is a bit addictive- need to watch my license there . . Added bonus, It has apple car play too which I like . Overall very happy - it’s very subtle, a bit of a street sleeper and super comfy with full glass roof and alcantara leather - very posh - Porsche Swindon did the whole unveiling thing with the a cloth over the car / flowers for my wife etc etc which I wasn’t expecting on a used car - very impressed.

Voodoo blue - do you have any idea how to access and change the music output - ie, bass and treble and balance ? I can’t find the controls anywhere ! Has Bose stereo
On mine there are 2 ways to do this. Either select the "sound" button on the main menu screen and make the changes on the next screen or press the "OPT" button just above the right rotary control and then select the sound settings option on the next screen. If I remember correctly you need to select the settings individually for all audio sources, so setting the base and treble for an SD card won't automatically make the same changes to the settings for Bluetooth, you have change these individually as well by selecting that sound source first and then selecting the sound settings to be the same if that's what you want. I use Apple CarPlay all the time in mine so its been a while since I changed anything on mine.
Let me know if you get stuck and I'll go and have a look at mine.

Just thought I would update as it is now 4 months since I got the macan gts.
The more I drive it, the more I love it.
I did about 400 miles this weekend, a lot of it on B roads and a lot of it in sport mode. I can’t believe how this transforms the car. The sound is awesome and the gear changes are very quick and smooth.
It is still a comfy car though so it really does what I hoped it would do !
I fancy a newish 911 cab now though …
