Just looking for advice/knowledge. My car had its 40,000/4 years service in Jan 24 even though it had only done 11,000 miles. Services are due every 2 years. The dash board has just come up with oil change required within 15 days or 8600 miles. The car has only done 2000 miles since the last service is requiring another oil change correct or likely to happen?
regards

It wasn't reset properly at the last service?

^^ That's my bet. Wonder who did the "service"?
There's no way these cars need an oil change every 500 yards.

If it wasn't reset at all in January then surely the service warning would appear before now.

If the Macan was serviced at an OPC they should have reset on a variable service basis. I know from other brands like Audi & BMW the independent techs tend to reset the service on a fixed annual basis.

Did you have it serviced at a Porsche Centre or independent?

Just realised the 15 days would take it to the 1 year anniversary of the service does seem a bit suspicious

Yes, it was reset on annual. Ignore the reminder - if you can wink.

Given the excessive number of Taycans they can't shift they need all the help they can get to get some income. Take it in immediately rofl

Macan oil changes are dependent on use, unless you do exclusively longer journeys it will 'calculate' when you need the oil changed. It's a pest. Additionally the oil isn't ok one day and not ok the next day because a light flashed up on the dash. Ignore it, take it to an independent or pay £420 to an OPC, up to you.

The real question is what's the use cycle of this vehicle that ads up to 2000 miles a year?

One mile each way to/from the station every day, car never warms up? Needs an oil change.

100 mile motorway journey once every couple of weeks? Leave it alone.

As this is the 4th Porsche that I have had and never had this issue before as they have all been low mileage cars then tend to think that the technician reset service indicator for 1 year. Added to this my wife also has a Macan and does similar mileage to me and it has never happened on that one either. Anyway I have E mailed Porsche customer service/complaints see what they say.

I’ve had 2 Macans, they’ve both done this. It’s not a new complaint and covered extensively on other forums. It’s worth noting that if the car ‘requests’ an oil change early, when you do the normal 24 month service the oil won’t be changed again unless it’s due for a 2nd time. This results in out of sync oil changes with the main services which is a pest.

Just for info purposes. I eventually got a reply as below from Porsche customer relations.

The oil will normally heat up and when cooling increases the viscosity of the oil which is good for the engine. Short journeys will prevent this from happening and can result in the oil becoming diluted. All Porsche vehicles have a sensor which monitors the condition of the oil to ensure optimal consistency of the oil is maintained.

So oil change is done and unless my routine and mileage changes then its an oil change every year, which is probably no bad thing just a hit in the pocket.
