V8 Diesel Panamera
Discussion
I hadn’t owned one but have driven a couple, once at an OPC and once at the Porsche Experience Centre. I drove it back to back with a 4S (petrol) and the Turbo. The V8 diesel is an immense engine, it can be revved and to great effect but the character is still definitely diesel. That said, it sounded meaty and smooth and would be an amazing long distance mile muncher.
I had 3 Panameras, including a 2019 Turbo. In the main, they’re excellent cars and well built but I came up against suspension problems once I hit 55k miles. I think it was track rod ends, top mounts, worn bushes etc and the car creaked over speed bumps, particularly when cold. Eventually, Porsche agreed to fix the issues under warranty but I had to get the Ombudsman involved and it took 6+ months. Otherwise, aside from the road noise, I enjoyed Panamera ownership. Specification varies wildly but a well specified car would be a great ownership proposition.
