Porsche Cayenne GTS issue
Discussion
Hi folks,
We had the first breakdown about a week and a half ago in 25 years of motoring. A 2023 Porsche Cayenne Gts.
We've owned the car since around November and it has had no issues or signs of any issues.
Then one day my wife couldn't get in it. We tried the two fobs and no good. We used the emergency key under the handle and managed to get into the car to find the battery was totally gone, no lights, alarms or anything.
Porsche assist (AA)came and got the car going using their starter pack. He said take it for a good drive and it'll be ok afterwards.
Well the wife was out for 60mins , came home reversed it on the drive and yep totally flat again.
The AA came out the next morning and boosted the car again and she drove it to Porsche Preston where its been ever since with no update apart from they were trying to put charge in the battery.
Is this a common thing with this lithium battery in this model.?
It seemed unusual to go from a good working battery that had just been up and down the motorway a couple of days before to be totally gone with not even enough power to open the doors?
When our old Macan was getting low it alerted us in the app and it was noticeable as in the seats wouldnt auto move and the comfort lighting would go out straight away on switch off. Mostly during extreme cold weather, when I would just use my cteck and charge it overnight and then it would be fine for the rest of the year.
Has anyone had a similar issue on a Cayenne?

Lots of discussion here on Cayenne and on the 992 911 forum about lithium batteries:

I have a 2023 911 GTS with the lithium battery and a 2024 Cayenne S-E Hybrid with the AGM battery. Both always connected to CTEK chargers, even if used daily. I connect direct to the battery live and earth point and use quick connects via the front and drivers side wiper.
Good luck with a warranty claim if the battery is kaput as the above forums have Porsche declining. Lithium light, but very expensive and the number of issues led to the revised Cayenne having AGM vice lithium when the Cayenne had its last LCI - as is the case in my 2024 model.

Its a guy called Darian from service. We are not allowed to speak to anyone else regarding the issue. He phoned Saturday saying they were still doing diagnostics and were wondering who was going to pay the bill !!!??
My wife isn't going to be paying so we'll see what happens.
At least the original sales lad has helped by giving us a loan cayenne for the time being.
Reading the links it seems its a common issue and the newer cars come with a agm battery which tells a tale.

One on my Cayenne failed albeit with warning messages.
I did get Porsche to cover the whole cost. Their opening gambit was 50%. They quote th life as 10 years. A full price battery is some £1500 which is mad
Not so bad if you get warning messages, you could trickle charge it and get ready for the inevitable, but this one just went. From up and down the motorway a couple of days before to being totally flat with no power to even unlock the doors.I did get Porsche to cover the whole cost. Their opening gambit was 50%. Well we arnt holding out much hope getting it back soon seeing as its been over 10days already and only though my wife asking whats happening to get a call back regarding the fault.
