Hi, I have my Macan set up so that the wing mirrors fold when I lock the car which is great.
However, I would also like them to unfold when I open the car using the open button on the key. Any ideas if this can be done and if so how?

You may be able to code it with the likes of PIWIS however they should unfold when you put the key in and turn on the ignition.

Thanks for the reply.
The mirrors do unfold when I put the key in the ignition, but I wanted to be able to see if the car was locked or unlocked just by looking at the mirrors. I had this on my last BMW and it saved me a few returns to the car in the past when I was unsure.
I’ll have to find someone with the coding capabilities. Does anyone know how much people charge for this type of coding?

My car is configured the way you want yours.

A google says this is way to set it up

To enable auto-folding mirrors on a Porsche Macan, navigate to Vehicle > Settings > Locking in the PCM display and check the box for "Fold in exterior mirrors when locking". Once activated, the mirrors will fold whenever you lock the vehicle via the key fob.

Apparently there s a YouTube video showing you how to do it

I’d have to check but I don’t think they unfold until car is started

Hi N111BJG and thanks for the reply.

As I said before I have already got the car set up through the PCM to fold the mirrors on locking. They also unfold when I turn the car on so not problems there.

What I am trying to find out though, is it possible to code the car so that the mirrors unfold when you open the car with the key?

The idea being that I can then tell if the car is locked or unlocked just by looking at the position of the mirrors.

I had this on my BMW which was very useful

My Dad has exactly the same issue with his 2022 Macan.

After several chats with his OPC and directly with Porsche, he got nowhere and gave up.

I think it s a Macan thing. My last two 911s have had folding mirrors and they both opened when the car was unlocked. Drives my Dad mad. biggrin

Hi Neil
The mirrors can obviously be folded and unfolded and so logically it must be possible to just program them to open on unlocking ans they do when the ignition is turned on. Especially if as you say other Porsche models do it.
I’ll just have to keep searching

981 does the same and I find it infuriating, they should unfold when unlocked. Never had any other car that behaves the same.

Pretty sure my Taycan is the same, as is my Audi, and my Bentley. They all remain folded until you start it up.

If you can see the mirrors then surely you will be close enough to click the button and double check it's locked?

Do you have Porsche Connected Services? Check the app?

I can see why you'd like to be able to see at a glance whether it's locked but I'd suggest that they're more likely to have issues if they're folding and unfolding more often than they need to i.e. when you just pop to the car boot etc.

Hi AB
Thanks for the reply.
My recently changed BMW X3 folded and unfolded the mirrors like this for 12 years with no issues so I can’t see why Porsche would?
Just can’t see why this seems impossible for Porsche even if it means some coding when multiple other brands seem to do it as standard?

My son’s last car (A6) was the same. Mirrors folded when car locked but didn’t unfold til the ignition was switched on.

Both my cars (Tesla Y / Alpine A110S) tuck the mirrors in upon locking, and then unfold them when unlocked, no need to sit inside and start them up. Seems the most logical and useful configuration, as the OP would like. Can’t remember how my old Cayman behaved.
