Hi,
I am looking for a contact switch (If thats the name for it) That sits in the shifter and allows the car only to start in P or N i was trying to fix the little clip (Circled in picture) that makes the dash lights tell you what mode they were in when i created a spark. I think i then blew the contact switch. Anyone got any ideas where i could source one of these? (In the picture its the white switch with the wires coming out of it that i require)
Thanks

My wife has a944 auto, never had a problem so I can not confirm it but I'm told the gear box is same as volvo so have a look at parts from a 240 auto,

Download the PET files from Porsche so that you can work out the part numbers and then phone your local OPC for a price. They will probably be the cheapest.

Let's hope it is that simple.

Just creating a spark is unlikely to blow the switch - far more likely a fuse blew somewhere (that's what they're designed to do after all).

If there are just 2 wires on the switch then to test it just disconnect the wires (careful they don't touch anything or each other) then use a test meter to check for continuity between the two switch terminals with the switch in each of its normal positions. If that shows either a permanent open circuit or a permanent closed circuit (I.e. it doesn't change when you move the switch) then I'd agree it's time for a new switch, otherwise that's not your problem.

Completing that test will take well under 1 minute if you have a test meter.
