hi am in the middle of a top end rebuild drop the engine and box in november and have striped and cleaned every thing ready to go together now heads have had guides and vavles done buy the head shop warrington great guys there new rings fitted barrels camshafts and rockers all perfect on a 150k motor tin wear was shot all replaced and a bit of powder coating done for a bit of bling

Very interesting thread - thanks for posting.

Did you have the heads machined to stop leaks? Ie some sort of seal can be fitted between the head and the block?

I assume it's only the outside of the rocker covers that have been powder coated? The insides need to remain bare metal (any coating can flake off and get into/block the oilways).

The Head Shop certainly know their stuff, they've been working on them for years - Unit 11 use them for the work on all their rebuilds (including a few for me) for example.

yes only the fronts powder coated the heads have all new guides and valves done due to pore leak down figures on exhurst side

just an update on the rebuild been trying to fit in xmas but got in the way of cleaning parts and fitting 90% of time cleaning and 10% fitting but pleased with how its going just gone through the timing part and although it took a while to get my head round it its now done and wont know till i fire up the motor if its right thank god for the forums for info

well just to finish off this topic i installed the motor last weekend and have finished some bits today motor sounds lovely and quiet idles at 800rpm and has 4 bar oil presure at tick over not bad for a joiner and no silcone used
