OK. To add to the collection.

Looked at a 86 sc coupe. Needs some work, but basically sound. He wanted £20K, offered £12K, he is at £16K.... Oh, forgot to mention, needs injection sorting/replacing. Paint is microblistered and a few bubbles of pug...

Also got my eye on a Turbo Body 964 LHD Tip. Any LHD has to be tip/auto for me because of my right arm. This one is rather lovely. £21K. Also has a/c and Bilsteins.

Much fun ensues looking and researching! Drove a 996 X50 some while ago and found it a bit bland. Like my toys like this a bit more edgy and communicative. Not too keen on the 996 look, but a Turbo might be a thing.

I have heard that in the world of aircooled a LHD is better for pedal arrangement?

Gentlemen, you have the floor. (Probably slightly crusty and holed if it's an early 911 floor!)

You need a lot of help.

Other than the special edition 964 911, as far as I'm aware, they did not build a standard C2 or C4 964 wide body. So something not quite right there.

The last SC was sold in 83. So something wrong there as well. Plus the 'SC' your looking at already sounds a money pit in the waiting.

My advice would be buy some books, do some research and then (and I hate to say this because I've never really got on with the idea of them) , get an inspection done before parting with your money.

Happy Christmas and best of look smile

I need help? Really?
The SC is a '82 actually, typisht error....
The 964 is a JP import, so no telling really. Going to check it out.
About 3 books and Gawd knows how many magazine articles.

The SC is basically ok - so long as I get it for the £12K that I bid on it.

Probably do need help with the size of the collection though..... It will be increasing by 3 over the next couple of months, actually 4 remembering the Romeo transporter.

Well you can see where I was coming from, without the typo error of your original post then the SC now makes sense. wink

The 964 (to me at least) still does not. I'd also be careful with the mileage if it's a Jap import. They seem quite often to be cloaked.

There was the 964 turbo-look Cabriolet which was available as a widebody.

you could get them in a tip. They did a 964 Carrera 4 wide body but that was manual only. Maybe for the far east market they did produce a wide body 964 tip. Need to do a bit of homework there.
The SC sounds an interesting project. Just make sure it is not riddled with rot.
How's the Bentley project progressing?.

I guess that this 964 may be a JP spec. Makes it very rare. Still interested to know if the LHD is better for ergonomics?

Bentley doing well. Fine trackday at Goodwood - new Oz superlegover wheels plus Federal RSR's transformed the handling over the 19" ones.

Going for a alloy fuel tank, the original is 100lt steel!! More weight loss follows.

Unlikely. It probably started life as a narrow body and has been converted to widebody aftermarket.

The tip from the 964 era was very unloved. So to spec a rare wide bodied car with it is very unlikely. So tread very carefully with your lhd 'Japanese' spec car.

Ask for a pic of the sticker under the bonnet and post it on here. We can then decipher the region the car was built for and the options.

Put the SC on a ramp and take a good look at the sills, rear wings and the rust trap on top of the inner wings. If any of them are showing signs of rot, budget £10k to resolve to a decent standard.

This ^^^^^.

I would also be very surprised if a country that drives on the left, Porsche would do a special version for that country designed to be driven on the right. wink

What the Japs used/like to do, is import rare/expensive cars that are LHD. They think its cool for some bizarre reason only known to them.

It sounds like a bitsa. How much do they want for it?

The LHD pedal arrangement is much better. RHD cars have the pedals offset to the left so the seating position is a little different.

Thanks for an answer to the original question! Much as I thought.

Awaiting further details of the 964 - the SC geezer stuck on £16K
