964 buying dilemma
Discussion
when I woke up and refreshed idea about buying 964 prices of my ideal 964 config jumped a bit. I am afraid I cannot afford to buy Coupe 2 with manual gearbox, so question is if to make compromise and search in earlier generation or consider not-that-perfect 964. That means to go for C4 or Tiptronic. Which one do you think is closest to my ideal 964 in overall driving feeling? Thanks for your opinion.

If you want it to drive what difference does the roof (or lack of) make? You do not say if it is an investment? What grounds did you base your "ideal" version on? Have you driven one, any variant, best decide why you want one and update your post to get a helpful answer
well, that was my question to dear PHers who have experience with both: what difference the roof or lack of it make? Common sense tells me it will be more twisty and heavier than coupe, compromise then. I do not have personal experience with either coupe or open top 964 unfortunatelly - they are not that common animals around here.If sufficient PHers write here targa drives same like coupe then that will be compromise to make. I will put hardtop on and that is it.
or if people will swear coupe makes a ton of difference but tiptronic is OK I will probably drift this direction.
I do not want it for investment I just do fancy simpliest possible thing: therefore manual and rear drive and coupe too.
993 I never consider because there was price going up even before 964 I reckon

no, I am on the Dunkerque side of the channel
I am after LHD just in case anyone has one in barn..
In that case, yes there does seem to be a bigger difference in price between C2 and C4 over your side of the channel. If you can find a good C4 coupe you should still find it is an engaging drive. Regarding open top 964s, I've been round a track in a C2 cab and it felt decidedly wobbly compared to my coupe!
