my cars gone wrong
Discussion
Just taken my car for an MOT drove it down to the testing station in Buckingham no problems at all and the car passed its a 3.2 Carrera
But as I went to drive it away , I turned the ignition on and there was no battery light started it up and the battery light came on and the rev counter started to flicker, and the indicators have stopped working everything else seems to work .
Any ideas I was thinking bad earth or something , checked the earth strap underneath by the g/box in the middle off the car that seems ok
This is the first thing that has gone wrong in the yrs I have had it
Any ideas chaps

Try using a jump lead to replicate the earth strap first of all, if it works, get a new earth strap.
Also, have you made sure your alternator belt is still there?
Thanks for the replyAlso, have you made sure your alternator belt is still there?
yes the belt is there and the earth strap just by the gearbox hasn't broken is there another earth strap somewhere
Not broken doesn't mean it's definitely doing its job, so try the jump lead I mentioned. Always best to try the simplest things first
Try measuring the voltage across the battery too - should be just over 12volts and increase to around 14volts with the engine running. If it doesn't increase when it's running then your alternator isn't doing its job, check all the connections and if all appears ok then remove it and get it repaired or replaced.

My initial thought is the earth strap. Something tells me there are two.
Ask the chaps on www.impactbumpers.com they are very helpful bunch
