Hi has anyone seen the 1968 RS recreation for sale at motoring hub London on Auto Trader.
Seems a fair price for this Porsche.
Looks in good condition in the photos.

Do you work for them or is it your car they're selling on SOR?

Frankly. It's s bitsa. 2.7RS ducktail. 964 sills, Rippspeed door furniture, 993 RS(?) front splitter, Aldi gear-lever gaiter, tacky blue tinwear....really not very nice at all. And it's £28 grand FFS!!!!!!!!!

Eta, if it's really a 1967, it's also a SWB..which should make putting the 350 bhp ( and I find it very hard to believe it makes that power given the spec of the engine described) down very interesting!

If it's a '69 car, surely money to made by just returning it to standard?

That's the one that was for sale for years at Motorhub in Keighly, AKA Keighly Trade Centre.

Yea that's where it was for sale for a long time . I thought with the age of the car there would be money in this does it really look that bad.😊so this would not be an investment the way older Porsche prices are going i thought it might be ok.

If you buy any car as an investment you really need to buy something that is as original as possible or has been restored to a high standard using original parts or good repro ones. It should have matching numbers too.

If you want to buy a car to have fun in, then your choice is wider. For instance, I think that some of the backdate 911s look great and no doubt Singer and Walker have something to do with the popularity of these cars. But are they an 'investment'? I don't think they are and as such have to be bought at the right price or in the knowledge that you might never recoup the outlay.

It's a bit like buying a Cerbera with a Chevy small block in it...the engine might be more reliable, but it isn't really a TVR any more is it?

The car in question doesn't fit into any of these categories...

Surely it's just simply the factors affecting desirability. If you have highly desirable, high demand and low supply the price will go up and it's an investment. Some of those factors seem to make good sense. Age, rarity, originality some are less sensible.

So if you bought one of Magnus Walker's cars 10 years ago it would not have anything special from the MW element. If you'd kept it then the price may well have gone up because of MW's growth in popularity and "specialness". Maybe same as R-Gruppe. Maybe same as singer over time.

Definitely true of my hot rod. The BertBert cache will grow over the years. That's an investment, defs. You mark my words, 911-BBs will be highly sought after in 10 years' time.

I've always wanted a BertBert car - hands down over a RUF or anything else save perhaps a 2.7RS smash

A right dogs dinner and a great example of all that's wrong with the used and abused Porsche market.
