Garage advice near St. Albans... 930 SC targa engine repair

Hi...having recently bought one of these, looking for recommendations for a Mechanic / garage who could undertake some immediate repair work...oil,leaks, missing air intake hoses, exhaust issues, etc

Not sure if you car is a 911 SC Targa (3.0 litre) or a 911 (930) turbo Targa, I presume the former but Steve Winter and the team at Jaz really know their aircooled cars so you'll be in good hands.

Hi. It's the 3.0 SC targa but has the wide body....bodywork needs a bare metal re- spray but keen to get mechanicals fixed first. Greatly reassuring Steve and team know these cars...all sorts of air intake hoses missing, hole in exhaust, etc

Fingers crossed it's not too beyond repair.

Many thanks...need to get those wheels back to black and very strange position of door wing mirrors..at different position on both doors...but engine mechanicals first.

did they fit steel front wings when they did the conversion and how good are the flares? New rear wings or did they butt-weld flares to the original rear wings?

Is it lhd or rhd? Often door mirrors are positioned differently if lhd.

RHD car and the planned bare metal re-spray will indicate how well / badly the wide body conversion has been done - both rear wings showing bad signs of rust / weld....focus on getting the engine sorted and then the joys of the bodywork.

On the wheels you may be better to look to swap with someone who has black, but would like red (maybe on a white car). The other option would be a gold/grey centre which looks great on a red car.

didnt all aircooled 911s have mirrors placed differently on each side.....

Seen a few other cars advertised, which seem to have this different offset position...makes me feel a little better

Depending on how bad your mechanicals are, you may want to get an opinion on your bodywork first - not cheap getting it right on these cars, a lot of the rust is hidden too.

Prashan, your mirrors should be in different places on the doors, it's so you can see them through the quarterlights OK.
