3) The red lever between the seats controls heat to my feet. BUT the manual says NEVER pull the lever? Should the 0-9 dial connect to the red lever via the "ball" (Arrowed).? There's no link there at the moment.

That's all for now! Thanks.

Hi, late reply, but yes, there should be a connector with a plastic end that fits over that ball and connects to the actuator by the heater dial. When you change the heat dial the actuator pulls or pushes this level via the connector to open or close the flapper boxes under either side of the rear/mid of the car. Quite often they get corroded, and the connector breaks, so you can't control the flow of heat.
Make sure your flapper boxes (probably a better technical name!) are moving/free'd up with some wd40 before you get a new connector, otherwise it will just break again.

As I said, the cracks only appeared after lifting the car by the engine, and supporting it with axle stands on the torsion bar. i.e It is me that "bent" the car?
Agreed I'll get it looked at in any case, but I think the new kidneys have put a stress point into the panel that'll be difficult to eliminate.
Shouldn't crack if repaired properly. Who 'restored' it?Agreed I'll get it looked at in any case, but I think the new kidneys have put a stress point into the panel that'll be difficult to eliminate.
