I know this is a difficult question to answer but keen to get some views. What is the general consensus on values of the 4 speed 930 Turbo?

In terms of the car I appreciate that condition and originality is everything, so sticking with a very good example ,relatively low miles (under 50,000), mechanically sound, original and all the bodywork is good. 1984 - 1987 build year.

What would a car like this be to buy?

Anything from £55k to £100k and which way the winds blowing. Sorry to be so vague but that's the best guess.

Under 50k mileage is in the collector arena.

I reckon over £100k.

I think you'd find that <50k miles for a 930 would be considered low mileage, rather than merely relatively low.

As such, a decent, original car with good history would probably sell near the £100k mark. Subtract £15-25k from that for anything up to 70,000 miles.

It would be fair to say that in comparison with contemporary Porsche models, 930s are still undervalued..... which is surprising given their role in Porsche history as the homologation model for the 934 and 935.

Thanks for the detail so far, the 930 is a bit of an unknown for me. I know 993's and there is a definite pecking order. In terms of the 930 I assume it would be:

1989 Turbo LE
1983 Flatnose 330 HP
1989 5 Speed 330 HP
1984 - 88 4 Speed 330 HP
1978 - 84 4 Speed 300 HP
1975 - 83 4 Speed 260 HP

Would it be fair to say this is the order that would be expected?

I have watched Harrys garage review and he certainly seems to rate his own 5 speed and the very early cars as being the desirable examples but I would welcome some educated views on this.

The car I am looking at is a late 1980 car so 1981 model, so pretty much right in the middle of the period.

Sitting at Phoenix airport on way back from Scottsdale sales. Blood on the carpet with 911 values. Check out RM Sotheby's and Gooding and Bonhams sites. I will try and post links to estimates and results tomorrow.

http://www.stevewakefield.co.uk/K500/K500-scottsda... are the results. http://www.stevewakefield.co.uk/K500/K500-scottsda... are the estimates. The results include 10% buyer's premium so you have to divide by 1.1 to compare the hammer price with the estimates. Probably sold at the correct prices, just not want the vendors wanted. Some variations ('930', '911 Turbo') in naming down to the auction houses. Just check the lot number for accurate comparison.

I stand corrected the cars that were up for auction were probably the best I have seen many with interesting history. Not great prices!

Hardly blood on the carpet. Just realistic prices against over optimistic estimates.

Don't forget over the 14 year run approximately 20,000 were made. They are never going to trade on the rareity ticket unless they have an interesting provenance e.g. Steve McQueen

Maybe it was the Margarita talking... but the vibe was of a 20% reduction in values. In Paris now for another round of sales. We did a comment piece here: https://k500.com/story-item/the-2016-scottsdale-au... 911s do get a mention (I have a 993!). Ickx car was nice in US. Many auction cars were not.

Last night's auction won't have helped the mood from what I watched online.
I wouldn't be rushing to pay 'top money' for anything.
