Hi,

I have a 1991 Porsche 944 Turbo and the turbo does not seem to be kicking in.
The Turbo pressure gauge is registering but no turbo power.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Nope, the waste gate is well away from the Turbo. And so is the boost controller.

Your best bet is to take it to a Porsche specialist as (no offense) it sounds like you are not on first terms with spannering and diagnosing faults. Where are you based?

Speak to Promax Motorsport - based towards Milton Keynes/Silverstone. They really do know these cars inside out and they are not too far from North Essex. EMC in Birmingham are also very good, but more of a trek for you. Lastly, someone like GT One in Chertsey or RGA in Vauxhall can help, but I still think Promax and EMC should be your first port of call.

Just got the car back from the garage and car is not running very well at all.
When you get to about 2500-3000 rpm it wants to cut out and is very lumpy.
There is also quite a load whirring noise from the rear.
Could this be a problem with the fuel pump?

Get it into one of the spannering garages above then, and stop trying to guess what's wrong based on random internet stuff smile

Turbo pressure gauge shows actual pressure, so 1 bar = no boost

Could be a massive boost leak, intercooler pipe off for example.

But if you don't know your way around these cars, you need a bit of help...

I have booked it into Perfect Touch Performance in Hoddesdon Hertfordshire for a diagnostic test and possible rolling road test.
Let's see what it brings up😬

Just collected the car today.
Took it to a small local mechanic that specialises in racing boxters.
Found it was a kink in the fuel line in the tank.
Great relief that it was all quite simple in the end.

Be prepared for fuel pump failure it's fairly common on that car, hopefully that's fixed the problem but I didn't know under fueling would create a boost issue!

I have had a 944 turbo and several 944s and one thing for sure is they are a car that likes to be used!

As said they do not like being laid up for to long, they like to be used.
