Can anyone tell me if this is this a Sony or Porsche OEM Audio Connector in my 993? It did have a Sony Radio/CD attached, which I think was the factory alternative choice.

I am trying to fit a Kenwood Radio which doesn't match the existing connector. But it would be good to know which type this one is so that I can have a discussion with a supplier.

It is not original.
The 993 connectors have the latches on the side.

Looks like the Sony connector. Have you tried tracing the wires further into the dash? It could be an hiding an adaptor or the wires will have been spliced together.

Sounds reasonable. Mine had the Sony with half a mile of cables and connectors. At the beginning was the original Porsche one that you can just snap another radio into once you've cleared it all out. Be careful with the aerial lead as there is a fine (like hair, I joke not) wire in the centre that is easy to break. Also, the power for the aerial will be wired into the block that connects to the radio. If not it won't work well, or at all. Plenty of threads on 911UK, though they won't appreciate a modern Kenwood. Plenty of retro alternatives (not Porsche Classic one).

I have a feeling that when I take look deeper into the recess, I too will find half a mile of gubbins... With regard to the Kenwood; it was something I found in the house the other day, but significantly it has Ipod/USB functionality... and as I am going on a few weeks driving in southern Germany/alps, I had a mild panic/mad moment and thought, I'll just ditch the sony and plug this homeless Kenwood in and use the ipod for the trip, after I returned, I planned to get a more permanent solution. But seeing as I ended up with a dismantled and useless (don't ask)Sony unit, and a Kenwood that I couldn't fit. I ordered an acceptable Blaupunkt Toronto(kind of retro) and arranged for a car audio guy to fit it this week. Overall, I was in a rush and didn't want to go down the retro alternatives route, it was difficult enough obtaining the Blaupunkt (No shop dealers in the UK...) anyway, thanks for all those who gave advice/pointers.
