Trickle chargers

Just bought a ctec mxs 5.0 trickle charger for my 1988 911. Never used one before so just wondered will it need to be connected all the time? or once a week also does the battery need to be disconnected from the car? Any other advice

Leave the battery on the car connected. You can leave it on all of the time. It 'tops it up'. It won't overcharge.

CTEK are very highly respected, In the winter, mine is on all of the time with a quick connector for when I pop out in it.

I have always used them on both motorbikes and my 964,the battery that i have in my 964 must be 14years old. The reason for its longevity is down to my Optimate originally bought for my bike.Its more of a battery conditioner but it works.. Highly recommended constantly plug in while car in garage..
