My new to me 993 is probably in need of a new exhaust.

Thinking Fabspeed supercups. I know they will be loud.

Has anyone any experience of them or other sports exhausts on 993’s

Thanks

RSR’s from Gert. Had mine for 10 years now & very happy. Dansk etc in my opinion are too loud, but of course one mans loud is another’s quiet.

There’s a cheaper often felt as acceptable mod often referred to as ‘the Hollamby bypass’, 911UK will have the details.

Neither are a sports exhaust but a minor mod on the existing.

Years ago I had a Techart exhaust on my C2, sounded nice, not too loud and looked good too. I have a standard exhaust on my current C4S. I would only replace it if I was sure there was a power gain.

If you follow Aston Parrotts long termer 993 in EVO he's talking about upgrading his exhaust.

He's just had an ECU tune at DMS and is looking to achieve less weight and more power with a new exhaust. Will be interesting to see what he does

RSRs from Carnewal and the 'sound box' are the best regarded 'original' solutions.Creates a lovely subtle sound with none of the droning that blights some of the aftermarket systems.

In fact, even Porsche's own 993 PSE was too intrusive. I ordered one for my 1995 993 (in '96), which Porsche fitted. When I arrived to collect it, they said I may not like it and should go for a test drive first. They were right - it was louder but not nicer, and particularly tiresome on motorways above 70.

They kindly agreed to replace the original - all at no charge. Some years later went down the RSRs route on '97 Varioram 993 - altogether much nicer.

Thanks guys, I think probably the rsr’s or Holomby bypass are probably the best option for me.

Will have a look at the state of mine when I get it off, I have a nasty feeling the back boxes have gone

Hollomby bypass is half the cost from memory of RSR’s. A friend had it for many years on his at the same time as mine & was louder.

I have Cargraphic + original sport sound drilled airbox - nice induction sound to complement the exhaust.

I've got Fabspeeds and decat pipe on my 993 and it is LOUD!!! At Goodwood it was measured at 121db at three quater revs and 85db at tickover. Every one who hears it says it sounds fantastic. But in reality it does limit the use of the car. I am lucky with my neighbours that they don.t moan about it but I do have people on the pavement waving at me to slow down even when I am well within the speed limits. It sounds like I am going faster than I am. It can be droney but I just drive in a lower gear to stop this.driving

Had the RSR's on my previous C2S, also had some new ones made for my Targa, my exchange mufflers were way too gone to be exchanged so went down the new route.

Still have the standard cat,
