Restoration Person/Garage Recommendation
Discussion
I think for bare metal these guys worth a look at too although I've not dealt with them. To paint old Italian cars well you really need to know your onions as they rust for fun.

Is there anyone else at this level in the UK for metal work on porkers ?

After a visit last weekend and look around the workshops I would suggest trying the Haynes Motor Museum restoration team. They operate a commercial restoration business as well as the museum. Had some very interesting cars in for work ranging from an Austin Allegro thro to a Delahaye and a Mercedes and An Italian car both bear metal rebuilds.

Without doubt. Tony is your Man. His knowledge and skills are second to none when it comes to aircooled Porsches Another vote for Tony at GTR. Had the front and rear lids repainted on my Guards Red 88 3.2 and they took the time to try several different shades of red to get a very good match to the original paint on the wings and doors. No posh coffee or comfy reception, just a bunch of blokes that know their onions. I believe they are doing the body and paintwork for the TAG V6 turbo 911s being sold by Lanzante and some of their work has ended up in the Porsche Museum via Porsche Cars GB.

I've had three or fours bits of work carried out by www.autobodytechnic.com and they are not bad at all. Speak to Bob if you'd like a quote or PM me and happy to put you in touch with him directly via email. They've just finished a bronze 930 which I liked very much and the job was better than mine at first glance. The issue is how the paint looks 3-4 years down the line especially on classics with rust bubbling etc and our 3-4 jobs have lasted well.
997 full glass out respray was £4000-£5000 but was not bare metal. Vid gives you a good idea of quality.

Also Riviera have done a 993 which I'm very impressed with. Again happy to connect you via friend who used them to paint our 993. I have 993 they have done and it won 2019 concours r21region.

Tony at GTR would be numero uno for bare metal restoration imo.............................
