Rennsport Back Date 911
Discussion
Does anyone have any thoughts/experience of Rennsport, in particular their 911s? A Singer is my dream car but without £500k+ spare, one of these is a realistic option.
This car has grabbed my attention. https://www.johnhollandsales.co.uk/used-cars/10417...
I think I saw it for sale at HR Owen in Cheltenham early last year for about £110K. Since then (if it’s the same one) it has been up for sale a couple of times. Makes me wonder if it has reliability issues, to change hands quite often?
More details and pics here. The craftsmanship looks good... http://www.911rennsport.co.uk/for-sale/slate-grey-...
Great looking car that ticks a lot of boxes for me. I just wonder what they are like and there is very little info about them here on PistonHeads and elsewhere on the web.

The plan is to one day have a collection of original, good condition cars, including a 964, but something like this works for me as a ‘daily’ classic that I wouldn’t mind using in all weathers and sticking the miles on.
Ready made is the only option. I don’t have the time, the skills or the patience for a project.

If it was me I'd be looking for a very nice 964/993 as you and others have mentioned, unless you have a far more generous budget, I'd forget contemplating a restomod.
Thanks for that thread, it's not the news I was hoping for, but the news I needed.
I personally love the idea of a Restomod. The looks of the very first 911s (my favourite ever car design) with the performance of a later car. With these cars already being customised I wouldn't mind using them properly, whereas with a top quality unmolested classic I'd feel like I have to treat it with kids gloves.
I was hoping that the Rennsport was £50K more than a standard car because it would be all sorted mechanically and for things like rust, so the likelihood of something going wrong would be a lot lower.
I have also been looking at the Paul Stephens cars, though they are a big jump up in money. Does anyone have any view on those?

Maybe you can buy this beauty, Sin ger style, for 1/5 or less of the price? even less as topic start car

Resto mods can be very cool and a lot of fun, you just need to go and have a look and ensure the key components have been thoughtfully rebuilt. Why not find a restored early 911 and add a bit more poke etc. I personally love the idea of a Restomod. As for Paul Stevens cars, have a look at one and it will take you 5 mins to make your mind up.
