......what are they really like?

All things being equal, state of suspension etc etc etc are they erm ok compared to a manual?

Do people want them? No that's the wrong question.

Oh just any tiptronic comments please, from those who have driven both.

Clearly I have not.

Thanks you lovely people.

I found that I was always yearning for a 5th forward gear in my tiptronic, especially on dual carriageways etc. If I was buying another 993, I'd go for the manual even though I'm not especially happy with the pedal positions.

That's exactly how I felt about my 993 Tip. Not for the purist perhaps, but I found it easy to live with as a daily driver apart from that.

The other half had a 1997 C2S tip. I took that to LeMans Classic many years ago. A very relaxing drive. I really enjoyed driving it. We had a blast with a manual narrow bodied 993 and the tip was quicker. That said some cars are just quicker than others. I would certainly not hesitate in buying another tip 993

In a 2001 996 tip I've found if you want to drive it "sportingly" it's important to get the e-throttle remapped to be more aggressive, and have paddle shifts added to the steering wheel. Without both of these or at least the throttle map the car feels very sedate.

I appreciate you probably can't do either of these mods easily to a 993, just my experience in a later tip.

Notice how the driver only uses the stick to change down – he relies on the engine map to change up when he gets to the red line……

That looked painful, nice use of the throttle to adjust balance but those gears are just so long, you find yourself thrusting your pelvis forward to try & get it to 'giddy up' bounce Oh & the repeated slapping of the stick to try & make it shift down tells you all you need to know about the driving experience wink
