Hello, so this car has intrigued me for a while now. I am looking for a project to either make perfect of hot rod a bit.
It’s been for sale a few months and I’m not familiar with the car or it’s owner plus I live way up north.
Any PHers know anything about this car? Any views or opinions on it?
It’s up for shy of £40K but I could get it for £37 and spend £15 maybe? Would that work?
Any views appreciated.
Thanks.

My question would be where it started life as it’s a LHD car....if the answer is West Coast of the US that’s great as potentially that means the body is solid. The problem with a 912 is that any bodywork is expensive as it is on any 911 or 912 of this age but obviously if you;’re dealing with a car worth £200k it’s a very different value proposition. Has it had any bodywork done ? What’s your £15k budgets going on ?

Why not get it for £40k and spend £12k.

At that sort of level I'd want to be seeing that there has been some work on the engine in the last decade or so, or at least that there have been some compression tests. If something goes caput on the engine that could be your budget. If you're going to put a 6 cyclinder into it, then there have got to be cheaper cars to use as a base.
