Hello!

I am new to this corner of PH, eventhough I have owned 4 Porsches now.

Last night I got the winning bid in on a beautifull 1980 911 SC Targa, so thought I would say hi to all here.

Of course, here are some pics!

I hope to meet some of you at an event soon.

Cheers

Julian

That's lovely - nice original period colour too!

I loved my SC Targa - arguably my favourite of all the 46 cars I've owned

Cheers, I'm glad you enjoyed yours and I intend to folow suit!

I never thought I would be interested in that colour, but when I saw it I instantly absolutely loved it and can't imagine now why I wasn't searching one out to start with!

That is indeed a lovely spec, congratulations on the new purchase!

What other Porsches did you have? Curious which way you went.

That looks great Julian.

(I don't have a Porsche - Just like to read threads where people get something new!)

Beautiful car, congratulations! I think light colours suit the Targa very well.

Looks like the engine bay has even been detailed. What's the car like mechanically? Are you going to post some driving impressions?

Thank you!

I started with a brand new Boxter when thye very first came out. Ocean Blue (dark blue with some green in some lighrs) and Savannah hide (light tan). This was followed by 2 996 Turbos (one with the X50). The first was black to grey leather (grey was a big mistake for me) and this was replaced with black/black and full aluminium pack and while dials).

I also have had an Aston Martin DB9, Maserati Granturismo (again, brand new when it first came out), Ferrari 360 F1 Spider (just sold), Bentley GT Mulliner (keeping) and several Range Rovers. The 911SC Targa is now my 4th Porsche and possibly the car I am most excited about (the Aston was close though!).

I am also getting a place in the Algarve again next year and want a LHD 964 Cab for over there, so I still get the joy of car hunting!

Cheers Anthony! I was hoping for a bit of nice feedback as I love it, but this has all been fantastic!

I agree on the colours and don't know why I didn't start off looking for this (I originally wanted black with tan leather)!

The engine is in as great condition as everything else but getting into 2nd can sometime take a firm hand. I am going to have John at Portech Performance have a look at that (they are only 4 miles away from me and I couldn't recommend them more highly).

I will certainly post some driving impressions after spending the weekend with her!

That looks very nice smokin

That’ll be way more visceral to drive along the lanes than pretty much anything modern!

Enjoy in good health thumbup

Very nice, would have well along side the 360.

Hope this one isn't going to be living outside.

Thanks mate! Yes, they would have worked well along side, but at the end of the day the bright red convertable Ferrari just wasn't 'me'. The classic 911 really is (well, that's how I see it anyway! wink).

No, she is going in the garage and going to be loved to the max!

Glorious! Congrats.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the restoration cost?
