Seems to be some debate as to whether the crankcase sump plug should be torqued to 42 or 70 Nm, with some suggesting the 70 Nm in the manual is an error and that 42 Nm is the correct figure.

Is anyone able to verify this?

TIA

Tighten it until you feel the washer crush and check regularly for leaks. If you need more assurance tighten to the 42NM figure and check for leaks regularly.

Thanks; 42 is suggested as the correct figure by some online (and the Wayne Dempsey book) who claim the figure of 70 in the manual is wrong and can strip the threads.

Am loathe to go against the manual but don’t want to strip the threads either.

Maybe do 42, and increase by 10 if it leaks and then another 10 if it still leaks, etc
