I'm unexpectedly in the market for a new car and toying between a GT3 and a 430. A friend said I should try the spider and I started reading the reviews.

Has anyone owned both? Is the spider really as good as the coupe for handling?

I would really like ceramics, is 70-75k a realistic budget for a decent spec car with ceramics?

Thanks!

Cars with ceramics tend to be in the £80's and 90's unless high mileage or 'undesirable' colours. Or you could get lucky in a private sale with a desperate seller. As I understand it only the 08 cars had them as standard but I may be wrong.

Are you intending to track it? A GT3 and a drop top F430 are very different propositions. I would not track my 430 Spider personally but love that people do.

I've been looking for the past 6 months for a F430 Spider F1, I don't think you'll get one with ceramics for your budget. Prices are firm if not continuing to rise.

Not the best time to buy a Spider I imagine either, summer is upon us so there will be more "summer toy" buyers.

Had both but a Mk1 Gt3 a long time ago, very different feeling in each car, recent acquisition 430 so I'd agree very optimistic for ceramics at your stated budget

Thanks for the replies.

There are a couple of cars with ceramics but with higher miles at my budget, might have to spend a bit more.

Am open to a coupe or spider, prefer the looks of the coupe but would love to try the experience of a spider.

Some of the cars have annual servicing and some have missed a year and been done on mileage, what does the manual say?

Thanks!

The car should be serviced every year. If one of the mileage services is due it counts as that years annual service.

There are relatively expensive services at 18,000 and 32,000 miles.

It may not be a problem mechanically if a car has skipped an annual service but it does raise questions about the previous owners' care of the car and what else might have been neglected because they tried to save money.

Thanks,

So many cars on PH listing FSH but with missing years.

After watching lots of reviews and looking at many pics, have decided red is the colour for me, spider or coupe.

Someone sell me a car!

Is there a reason you're dead set on ceramics? Looking to track it?

Ceramics were only standard on MY2008 cars (and even then not all 08 cars have them). Prior to that it was a circa £10k option, which one presumes will make it pretty rare.

Hi Lee...

I've a similar pattern of cars to you...especially the modified Porsche models.. biggrin

Tony (Moore) with his green 964 had a major infuuence on my cars, probably your fault hehe

Got my F430 in March.....for me and my style of driving, it suits me more than the GT3.

Get the best you can and you'll love the experience.

Cheers smile

Durzel, aside from looking a million times better, once warm they a great to use.

Hi MrVert, small world. I'm going on a Euro trip next month with Tony, which is why I'm looking for a car so actively. I sold my Gallardo unexpectedly.

There is a nice one at Autoficcina, not my favoured colour but still very nice.

Had Porsches for 10 years so I feel that I have done the Porsche thing enough for now. I would have a GT3 but prices are crazy. 997.1 gt3s at 85k is bonkers.

Enjoy your car!
