Child seat in a 430 Scud?

Can you fit a child seat in a 430 Scud and turn off the airbag?

No & yes according to the manual: The key switch has two positions:
- ON: passenger airbag active and LED on the roof’s dome light off; it is strictly
prohibited to fit a child seat and transport children on the passenger seat.
- OFF: passenger airbag deactivated and LED on the roof’s dome light on; a child seat
CANNOT be fitted and children cannot be transported on the passenger seat.
Warning The passenger seat of the vehicle is not fit for the installation of ISOFIX universal
seats for children.

Strictly prohibited by whom exactly? Ferrari? Can they dictate the age groups that can legally be transported in the car?
Genuine question; I have sent my young son out in all sorts of cars that aren't typical family wagons, including some track specials, and this is the first I have heard of there being an age limit on certain passenger seats. Have I missed some relevant legislation or is this just some ass covering by Ferrari as they don't think a car seat will fit safely into the buckets?

You don't need to turn off the airbag for front facing child seats. I think that is only for baby, rear facing car seats.
I take my kids in the Stradale and 355 in their front facing child seats and they fit fine. I don't switch off the airbags.

I've got a front facing child seat in my Scud.

I drop my 3 year old to pre school in it most days.

Rear facing child seat, I don't think so - mine doesn't seem to have airbag shut off.

Yes. Daughter is 7 months so seat is quite small, but sure a larger seat would fit.

7 months would be a rear facing seat, no?

Do you have airbag shut off on yours?
Mine is LHD and no airbag shut off so no rear facing seat.

The rear facing rule only applies to size based seats. Use a weight based seat like we do and they can be forward facing at any age.

Mine is RHD and I have a shut off switch on the left side of the dash - it's a case of inserting the key and turning the switch.

The switch was an option but IIRC Ferrari actually sell a retrofit kit.

Its a shame they dont have that key on the 458! My little chap is now 2 so he is in a front facing ISO seat in the M5.

What seat are people using the carbons seats in the 430/ Scud? I am looking to get one ready for the summer!

I used to use a Britax Romer KidFix in my Scuderia and it worked very well.

Am I missing something or is this incorrect? The reason younger children are not allowed in forward facing seats in the front (if you can't turn the airbag off) is to prevent them being injured in the event of the bag going off.
Rear facing in the front carries dramatically less risk.

I think the age and weight suggestions are from the child seat manufacturers.

I am no authority on this but as the pictures show in most airbag cars not to put a rear facing seat in the front as the airbag will push (and further accelerate) the seat and the baby into the back of the car seat

Correct.

Have a driven with a child in the front of a 2-seater. Yes.
Have I ever driven with a child in the front with an active airbag? No.
