I’ve noticed a good few of these don’t have front lift, is it crucial?

If you live in London 100% yes.

I've hit my splitter on a speed bump only once. Forgot to press the button, never again

Can it not be retrofitted?

I recall reading somewhere that adding front lift also requires changes to spring set up. Is that true?

I doubt is is a deal breaker, but it depends on where you live and where you drive. I never had front lift on any of my cars, but it does mean I can't get into certain parking garages etc.

V12 cars with lift have 10% softer springs so I imagine the same would apply to the V8s.

You don’t need lift - until you do.

I wouldn’t buy without lift as an option. It’s just not worth it.

crawling around on your hands and knees to see if your car can make it into the venue car park is not a cool look
apparently

nah you only start crawling around at home when you heard the crunch earlier in the day (reversing again while suppressing a few tears to not look like a baby in front of the crowd)

I would say a lift is essential, in fact I think it’s pretty feeble effort - too slow to lift, should lift higher and work up to 60 kph. The speed bumps increasingly and the entry and exit of villages in France are a royal pain.
