Wrapped 458 - Good/Bad
Discussion
Am planning to buy a 458 and saw a red one today that turned out to be white with a wrap. Initially I was put off but is this actually a good thing? The wrap quality seems excellent, and otherwise the car seemed in good shape (pre inspection). The original paint is being protected - should I be looking at this as a positive?
A good wrap can be beneficial, but unfortunately, you have no way of knowing what condition the paint was in before being wrapped unless you owned/knew the car at the time the wrap was applied. It wouldn't be the first car to have been wrapped to hide a multitude of paint issues.
Should you choose to remove the wrap at any point, it can also lead to removing the laquer/paint. Ferrari paint isn't the best from the factory, so it's a bit of a gamble! If the spec, miles, condition, history and price are what you are looking for, then it might be a good buy, but if another car is available that matches your requirements without a wrap, then that's probably the safer bet.

Personally I would steer well clear. As already mentioned, you have no idea of what the paint is like underneath and if the car has had any paint repairs in it's life, there is a very good chance that it will lift if/when the wrap is removed. It will also certainly have a negative impact on resale and value.
