1995 Ferrari 456.

We are midway through a euro trip in the 456. Currently in the south of France until Saturday morning. I noticed this crack in my windscreen and wondered whether to get it fixed by a mobile fitter out here or wait till we get home and have it done at a Ferrari main dealer?

If this was something straightforward like a VW, I would probably get it done now, however, I have had problems with squeaks and rattles and leaks on Ferrari windscreens in the past, and I wonder whether I can leave it till I get home to a trusted fitter?

(Moderators, due to the peculiarities of the windscreens on some older, Ferraris, I would prefer this to be kept in this forum if possible)

I understand that a new seal and new trim as needed to replace the windscreen, which doubles the overall cost. Anyone with a '90 Ferrari have any experience on this please?

Bad luck - but it looks like it should hold for a while.

If I were you, I would post in the 456/550/575 sub-forum on ferrarichat.

Hi Robert, yes had them replaced on 550, 575 and 355s , all need replacement trims to do it properly. Definitely best to wait and have a dealer do it

I'm not sure I get the concern? I got a stone chip on the Autobahn on a cross-continental trip a couple of years ago and it developed into a large crack on the screen, like 10x yours, but everything stayed in place and I replaced it once I got home a week later.

It has cracked across the corner and probably will not worsen as the crack has gone from edge to edge.

Looks like you've had a chip repaired too some time ago? Unless it's a bit of dirt?

The other two marks are deep chips in the glass as well. Defo time for a replacement. I’m glad that the consensus is that it can wait for my our return.

Meanwhile Ferrari in Cannes is preparing a quote for me

That's good to know. I wasn't sure if it would last till I got home.
I have put superglue into the chips and along the cracks as a precaution.
