What brand and spec of engine oil for normal road use? Manual mentions 10W60 however ChatGPT says that Mobil 5W40 is more suited for general driving.

No plans to track car (yet!)

Definitely 10w60, factory spec is Shell Helix Ultra Racing.

Be very wary to follow the updated level checking (should be on a separate piece of paper to the manual) it's easy to overfill them which then comes up the breathers and damages the MAF's, if you put enough in (as somebody did on mine!) it'll eventually come out in the front wing side grills and pool on the floor behind the front wheel

Many thanks for the advice on oil type and revised oil check procedure I do have the one pager Also noted from @cakeeater winter/summer levels

per the revised oil check procedure - no more than half way between min / max for winter and 10 mm above min for summer / drives

Email from a while ago with Opie oils

To go with the standard Shell oil there should be a booster oil, helps the "tappeting" you can sometimes hear, particularly on cold starts. It can be hard to find.

I have since changed to motul 300v 10w60 and I've not seen any issues in engine wear (apart from oil rings) and it's a known issue.
